Donation Guidelines

Thank you for thinking of Recycle-A-Bicycle for your bike donation! Please read our donation guidelines, and contact us at rabshop@bike.nyc if you have any additional questions. 

Condition:

• We welcome bikes in good working condition.
• We may accept damaged bikes or bikes with missing parts.
• We accept electric bikes in working condition that are certified to UL 2849 safety standards.
• We do not accept bikes with excessive rust.

Parts and accessories:

• We accept donations of usable parts.
• We accept donations of new helmets only (we cannot ensure the safety of used helmets).
• We accept functioning accessories.
• We accept new or gently used (laundered) cycling clothing.
• We do not take parts/accessories that are damaged beyond repair, excessively worn, or rusty.

Drop-offs:

Donations may be dropped off at our Bike Lab (4014 1st Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11232) Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:30am to 6:00pm.

Local pick-up service:

To inquire about our donation pickup service, please contact rabshop@bike.nyc with the following information — Name, address, contact information, and number of bikes to be donated.

If your bike does not meet our guidelines, we recommend these alternatives:

• Bring the bike to a metal scrap recycling facility.
• List your bike on Craigslist, Freecycle, or Facebook Marketplace.
