Earn-A-Bike is an opportunity for young New Yorkers to get an introduction to bicycle repair by building and adjusting their very own bike. Students are exposed to a professional work environment where in addition to mechanical skills are also encouraged to develop problem solving skills and confidence in their abilities.
Our Earn-A-Bike class is a program offered to Highschool students throughout the year. Students begin by assembling a brand new bike, then during the duration of the program they use that bike to practice basic mechanic skills. At the end, students get to keep the bike they have built. For many of our students, the bike earned in this program is their first bike ever, granting access to the freedom of mobility and a healthy active lifestyle.
